A tip from your Technology Coordinator: All WPS students have headphones on their back to school supply list. We do not require a specific brand or style of headphone be purchased. We do ask that our elementary students not utilize earbuds. These end up broken and tied in knots and unusable extremely rapidly. We also do not recommend bluetooth headphones for elementary students as charging and connection can be problematic. If you are looking for a recommendation, we have used these (https://amzn.to/3N4cfJj) and they have been a good product for us. You are free to pick whichever brand you like. This is just a recommendation. Inexpensive headphones are recommended for school use as students abuse and break them. Please ensure that you label headphones with your student's name.

We have been receiving calls from concerned citizens of the district and we just want to take a moment to further clarify some information. The resolution in the paper is for the school to utilize a $2 million Coal Development Fund loan to cover inflation costs to the upcoming building project. The resolution is required in order for the school to borrow against our building fund for this loan. We can not stress enough that this Coal Development Fund loan is not costing the tax payers any more money. A Wilton School Foundation has recently been established. Members of this group met last night. The Wilton School Foundation and its members will be instrumental in helping to obtain donations from businesses, alumni, etc. Donations to the foundation will then be utilized to help pay off the Coal Development Fund loan. If you have further questions please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Jordan at the school.

Sanford Power athletes - reminder for all of the athletes that signed up - the bus leaves at 8:20 am from the front of the school beginning Monday morning June 5.

Sports Physicals: Mark your calendar for July 27 from 9 AM to 1 PM. And August one from 12 to 5 PM. Sports physicals will be given at the Wilton School.

We will once again have a Washburn-Wilton team play in the Hazen Youth Tackle Football League (5th and 6th graders) this fall. I will find out the cost for your child, which includes the league fee and pad rental at a later date and there is an additional deposit required that you will get back when the pads are returned. This is not a school activity, so you will need to bring your child to the games on Saturdays in Hazen or Beulah. We do not know the schedule yet, but in past years, registration was early August, practice started mid-August, and the first game was the weekend before Labor Day. We plan on practicing in Washburn, most likely on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and the weigh in and pad pickup will be done in Underwood. I am trying to get a list of players now so we will be ready when the information comes out. We will use the remind app for scheduling and to communicate, once you let me know I will set this up. Please let me know if your child will be playing. We are trying to evaluate how many kids will be playing so we can let Underwood Parks and Rec know in case they need to buy additional equipment. Congratulations to the Washburn-Wilton-Center-Stanton baseball team on advancing to the Region championship game! In spite of falling short of a trip to state, it was an impressive run through the tournament and shows a bright future for the Coach Stevens and the Cardinals baseball team!
